Summa D Series 60 degree plotter blade.

FAQ

Yes, you will be able to cut vinyl that is 110-microns using the Summa D Plotter Blade. This blade is suitable for plotting vinyl up to 200-microns tick. Cutting anything thicker may require the use of a 60° blade.

The actual cutting edge of the Summa D Plotter Blade is a very fine point right at the tip which can sustain damage easily, so it is important to take extra careful measures to avoid damage. Do not remove your blade from the machine un-necessarily, the longer it stays in, the less opportunity there is for external damage. Furthermore, when cutting harsher materials such as foil, magnetics or reflective you should always use a separate blade to the one that you are cutting more delicate materials with.

Summa D Plotter Blades are a Tungsten Carbide plotter blade, more specifically made from 13% cobalt ultra-fine grain carbide which is extremely hard and sharp, but also extremely brittle.

Some materials will require specialist blades; however, cutting different materials can almost always be achieved without changing the blade type. You can often get the results that you need just by adjusting the cut profile settings of your machine; such as blade weight, cut depth and speed settings. This is not always the case, for some thicker and tougher vinyl, you may require a 60° blade.

The Summa D range of plotter blades are compatible with the SummaCut D Series of vinyl plotters which are drag cutters. These blades are not certified for use with any other plotting machine and should be used with other machines at your own discretion.
